About Me

Victoria, Australia
Single mummy, who believes we should all strive to do our best in educating ourselves in choices we make on our childrens behalfs! Worried about how much the Western society are seperating themselves from what it is to be human. Ignoring what it is to be natural and trusting ourselves, and replacing it with our inventions and thinking we can outsmart nature. This is not the future I want for my children, Annabelle 3yrs and Lucy 1yr. Most of all Im passionate to get back to basics with pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding.

Confusing passion with pushing....

"Your current safe boundaries were once unknown frontiers"

Not so long ago I was that woman who argued with a subject I did not know enough about.  I believed what I believed, simply because it's all I had ever known.  No research to back it up, no passion driving my thoughts and worst of all, no WANT to better myself.  Certainly far to stubborn to challenge my unfounded beliefs!

My stubbornness and desperate fight to 'win' the argument was simply that, I wanted to win the argument and defend all that I have ever known.
I would get angry, pushy and loose all control.

I then had my children and realised all that I thought I knew, didn't matter.  I had a clean slate and an amazing opportunity to better myself FOR my children.  I soon found the more I challenged my beliefs, the more I learnt, the more I learnt the better person and mother I became.

I was one of the lucky ones, I learnt quickly that what I thought I knew, wasn't necessarily true, fact or right!
I learnt to shut my mouth and listen, almost as much as I spoke;)

I worry that as humans we don't hit our full potential because we are so busy, constantly justifying our past actions, we loose the chance to better our future ones.

Now when I come across a topic that can cause heated debates, I remember we have to be careful not confuse our passion with being pushy.  Pushing a topic or belief can help bring it to people's attention BUT I must remember many people are where I was.  Stuck, in their own beliefs, not willing to challenge them and are quick to tell me to stop pushing.
Am I pushing?  Or is this part of them being scared that all they've ever known, may be wrong?

Hopefully one day they will realise and see my passion for what it is.  I'm so glad I started to challenge, all I ever knew and continue to question what I think I know........

Knowledge is power and chance to live a better life.

The rates of c-sections are around 10% for the whole country and more than 90% of the laboring women do not need an epidural anesthesia. The birth outcomes are much better than in the USA (number of babies alive and healthy at birth)."

Birth is not medical! Our future is suffering for it. The issues of today start with birth!

Why did we hand our birth over to the medical system??? To dull the pain of childbirth?  How can we expect so much from our children and how they grow, mind, body and soul.  When the 1st chance we get, we allow intervention.  YOUR body, YOUR baby, YOUR birth.  Never be pressured!

Quotes, I love:)

“We found that babies who received an additional two months of full breastfeeding were over four times less likely to contract pneumonia and half as likely to suffer recurrent ear infections.”
 Caroline Chantry quotes

“Child birth is one of the most natural and ancient things to occur, and the fact that 95 percent (of babies) are delivered in the hospital, and a huge percent are C-sections, is rather telling to our detachment from the process.”

What's more important?

So what is more important?  Making life easier on the parents, making it more 'convienient'?  Or have we lost the ability to believe in ourselves as humans and as parents?

We cut our boys to save time bathing and teaching them hygiene, we bottle feed to go back to work (instead of fighting for support to stay home) or because we believe we're not enough, we make our babies 'cry it out' to save going to them, holding them and nurturing them as it'll make us 'tired' in the morning or worried they might get to ATTACHED??!?!?!,  put them in strangers care as we have been brainwashed to think WE cannot teach them the qualities they need to cope with life, and we let people whom we 'trust' inject them with GOD knows what chemical because once again we are convinced our human bodies, milk and diet are not equipped to handle things.......
Your babies, your choice YES.  But how many of you can say you have enough factual based research to make informed decisions on your child's behalf?
Now I cant imagine why all mothers aren't being told all that I have learnt.  We have to fight to find out? Sometimes feels like a battle already lost....
But no matter how many people scoff at me or insult me, I remember how important the war is...

You do have a CHOICE to vaccinate or not!  I'm still researching and no amount of abuse will stop me!

"They save lives" and "They are there for a reason", is not good enough to convince me.  Especially coming from people that know NOTHING about vaccines and 'asking their doctor' is the deepest they have 'researched'......
I cant believe I never asked questions sooner.  I just did what was 'done'.  Don't ever let anybody make a decision for your child.  Even if it means having people abuse and judge you.  My children are worth more then your insults.
To make a decision as important as this, you must learn history of the disease and vaccine, research is deeper then asking your GP and peers...
I have not decided either way, to vaccinate or not to, but I certainly wont be pressured when it comes to my child's health.......will you?

"For most children, the risk of a serious vaccine reaction may be 100 times greater than the risk of hepatitis B."

Im back!

Well after a long break due to being DUMPED, I'm back!

Long story short....

My partner of 7 years, father of my two baby girls, decided he wasn't happy.  And thought it was best we went our separate ways, with him still seeing his babies.

So to be honest at 1st I was a MESS and went to a friends, with my girls, for a few days.  I went through so many different emotions, until finally, I did a little soul searching and realised, I was no longer happy in that relationship!
Sure I had love for him and we had a 'happy' family life BUT, was I in love with him? Did we have a bond when the kids left the room?......NO

I'm 23 years old, YES I'm a mother and that is my priority! But since he left I have realised what a blessing he gave me...........he gave me a chance to find ME.

It's ok for me to go out and have fun and it's ok for me to spend money on myself.  It's ok to for me to do things that make ME happy!  My girls will grow to be strong, happy and stable minded, if that's how they see their mother.  As long as my girls come 1st and I'm true to them and myself then I cant go wrong.

I had to mourn the things that now wont be, holidays with the my girls and their father, marriage to him, more babies with him etc.
Once I mourned that I was then able to get EXCITED about what really mattered in life. My girls and I taking on the world!
I now go to bed and I get excited about the next day!  I have never felt so bright and as though the world is my oyster!

Life is beautiful and I am far to blessed to be stressed:)

I LOVE my life and all that are in it.  I still have my x in m life and who knows, one day we may try again. But now I need to be loyal to myself and my feelings and at the moment, they are excited about the future with my girls:)

My girls have never been so well behaved.  I guess mummy being true is working;)

I wonder what tomorrow will bring??? BRING IT ON!

I dont think enough people know or understand what a Doula is:)

http://thestir.cafemom.com/pregnancy/115924/doulas_arent_just_for_hippie

The home freebirth of Lucinda Molly.

Thank you, to my beautiful friend Lisa, for letting me share her wonderful birth story.  A birth to prove to us all, what we are capable of :)

My due date was Feb 6 2011. I had an ante natal appointment booked for Feb 8, where I had already been told that they would be discussing induction with me, as they didn’t want me going too far over because of the fact that this was pregnancy #6 over 20 weeks and I am 35 years old. I had written up a birth plan stating things like ‘no vaginal examinations to be performed’ but that was completely ignored by my midwife who told me they would like me to have a S&S (strip & sweep/stretch & sweep) done at the next appointment.
Because of these facts, I decided to skip my ante natal appointment and just hope for the baby to come out asap.

I had a feeling about Feb 10. Maybe it was wishful thinking, but Feb 10 stayed in my head.
On Feb 9 I started to do some acupressure and almost instantly the Braxton hicks contractions I had been having began to intensify. I got excited that thought it was the real thing. I was sorely disappointed when they all faded into nothingness. The best thing about them fading was that I got to have a decent night sleep.
On the morning of Feb 10 I woke at 6am with more Braxton hicks contractions. I told Rob to stay home as I was rather exhausted and the pains were coming fairly regular. By 7am I was ready for Rob to go to work as I wasn’t convinced this was the real thing. James & Madeleine had school photos on and Rob drove them to school. I asked Rob to drop in to Bi-lo on his way home to buy some snack type foods for the little ones, just in case the Braxton hicks amped up and I went to hospital later in the day.
I went for a shower while Rob was gone and Harrison joined me. We had a sing along and splashed each other. I felt fine even though the Braxton hicks were bugging me. I got out of the shower and put on a top. Something told me to fold my towel and sit on it on the bed. I grabbed the laptop and hopped on facebook to keep me occupied until Rob got home. I got another Braxton hicks contraction and suddenly I felt my water break. I was really confused at first because it was so opposite to what happened the last time my water broke naturally. Last time I was in what I knew was labour, I lost my mucus plug and not long after my water broke. This time, my water broke while only having Braxton hicks? That’s when I thought that perhaps the pains actually were the real thing and I was probably in labour. I called Rob and told him what had happened. He was shopping in Bi-lo and decided he’d best hurry home. I decided to get back in to the shower and clean myself up a bit. It was around 8:15am.
Rob arrived home and I hopped out of the shower. I got back on facebook to distract myself for a bit while Rob got the kids their breakfast. Pains were coming every 7 minutes and lasting for 1 minute. I wondered if I should head up to the hospital. I decided not to as I thought the baby would be way off as the contractions weren’t really intense and they were still 7 minutes apart. I had no problems talking through the contractions.
So I basically sat in bed with Harrison & Anelise and we watched a movie. Rob put a whole heap of pillows behind my back so I could be semi reclined and comfortable. Rob dozed off while I watched TV and got through my contractions.
Anelise was being really clingy to her Daddy and was a bit sooky. She wouldn’t leave Rob alone and wouldn’t settle next to me. Rob went to take her into her bedroom but I didn’t want him to leave my side. Rob asked if we should head up to the hospital and again I said no. I told him that they contractions were not strong enough and there was no way I was going to be in labour up there with the little ones unwelcome and bored. I had previously been told that this time around it was highly likely I would not be allowed to have the kids in the room while I birthed the baby. This really upset me.
So, I sat back in my mountain of pillows while Rob timed my contractions and talked to me. Suddenly, I felt a massive need to push. Once again, Rob asked if we should head to the hospital and I told him I was going no where! The baby was going to be born where I was sitting as I couldn’t move.
Between contractions & pushing, Rob & I discussed little things like him slipping the cord off the babies neck should it be wrapped around it and what we would do in regards to the cord etc. We decided that I would birth the baby and he would call an ambulance. I guess being told so often that I would haemorrhage played on my mind a fair bit, so there was a part of me that wanted that covered just in case.
Anelise was still clinging to her Daddy and Harrison was sitting up next to me with his play stethoscope. I explained to Harrison that the baby was going to be born soon. Through contractions, Harrison would place his stethoscope on my belly and listen like a little Doctor. It was very cute.
It was lovely having my babies there with me. I kept pushing & pushing and I felt like I was getting nowhere. Part of me kept thinking “call the ambulance and get me to the hospital right now” and the other part of me thought “this is transition, you CAN do this”. Rob grabbed a spare doona and some extra towels and we put them underneath me as I moved into a less reclined but still semi reclined position. I started pushing some more and Rob then told me he could see the babies head and there was lots of hair. Rob was telling me how great I was and how well I was doing. I pushed and pushed some more and out popped the head. I told Harrison to move down by my leg and watch the baby come out. I kind of expected it to be easy from here, like it had been for my others but it wasn’t. I felt like the baby was a little stuck so I asked Rob to help me. Not real sure what he did but it hurt a little and it made me push really hard. The rest of the baby slid out and I felt instant relief. Harrison & Anelise watched the whole thing and when the baby came out, the first thing I heard was Anelise say “Bubba”. The time was about 10:50am.
I grabbed my new little baby and put it on my chest. Rob grabbed the towel we had bought for it and placed it over us. Harrison looked at the baby properly and said “It’s a little boy”. I realised I hadn’t checked to see if the ultrasounds had been telling us the truth. I moved the cord aside to discover the ultrasounds were right and I was holding my little princess. I showed Harrison that she was indeed a little girl and told him her name is Lucinda. I sat there with the 3 of my babies cuddled up to me while Rob called the ambulance.
The operator asked if I had delivered the placenta yet and Rob said no. I told him to tell them it wasn’t far off and with that, I pushed and out it came. Rob went out to the kitchen to find an old ice cream container but there were none, so he grabbed an old salad bowl and came back and put the placenta in it.
Next thing we hear a quick siren sound outside. Rob went to the door and let the ambulance women in. They were lovely and joked that I had left nothing for them to do! By this stage the only thing left to do was to clamp and cut the cord. The cord had stopped pulsating so we clamped and Rob cut it. I was feeding Lucinda all this time. We then wrapped Lucinda and talked about how she & I were to go to the hospital to just get checked over. I handed Lucinda to Rob and went off for a quick shower. I cleaned myself up and the ambulance lady carried Lucinda out to the ambulance as I walked beside them. I hopped onto the stretcher and continued to feed Lucinda. We arrived at the hospital and we were wheeled past what felt like a thousand different people who all turned to look at me. I couldn’t take the smile off my face as I wondered what everyone must be thinking.
We arrived at Labour & Delivery and I hopped on to another bed where I was checked over and offered something to eat & drink.
Rob then arrived shortly after with Harrison & Anelise. They both hopped on to the bed with me and we shared the dessert that came with my meal. The midwives came back in and weighed & measured Lucinda. She weighed 4160kgs or 9lb 3oz, was 53 cms long with a 35.5cm head circumference. Rob was praised for keeping such a cool head throughout the birth and the midwives were so proud of how well I did. We arrived back home around 2pm with our newest little perfect princess

Wow, are we surprised? FFS when will they make an 'alternative' that is actually worth giving!

We want our children to THRIVE. Mothers that cant feed should be able to give their babies the best. Weather they can feed or not, the 'alternative' needs to be better. Our babies are our future!
Support donor milk!

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1308517/Health-fear-Up-40-times-aluminium-formula-milk-breast-milk.html
I will continue to research what is being put into my child. No matter what other parents tell me and no matter what I'm called. My children come 1st and I refuse to go along with something. I will fight for an answer, until I'M satisfied.

Many of you will laugh at me, call me hippy, you can think of me how ever you like. But what I am is a good mother. Questioning whats going in my child's body. I'm not saying I wont vaccinate, I'm not saying that at all. But I will make the best choice for my children.

If a mother formula feeds her child, do you judge her? She isn't, for what ever reason, giving her child NATURAL VACCINE. Please don't underestimate what breast milk does!
But no, God forbid, we don't judge her as SOME mothers will say "It's my choice"

But a mother who doesn't vaccinate????? WOW, everybody has an opinion.

Maybe before you judge her, do your own research. Really look into it. Having a judgement based on what you have been brought up to think is unfair and small minded.

You are allowed your opinion but only with facts to back it up. That's what I'm in the middle of doing, trying to rap my head around whats going into my child, why it's going into her (history of illness'/vaccines etc).

"There were illness' now there's not"
Is NOT good enough answer. I'm sorry but no matter how much it puts people out I will continue to be that annoying person to question everything.

Our children are sold lots of things that aren't good for them and my 'trust' in the medical system is well, leaves much to be desired, so I will question this.

I may use some of these vaccines, but not others, who knows.

Question is do YOU know what is going into YOUR child?

When I believe in something Im passionate about it. I may tread on toes and Im most likely going to have many that hate/dislike me or that disagree with me. But if I get through to just one person, just as somebody got through to me, then it's all worth it.
We all have different beliefs and that's what being human is all about. I once had no stance on most of what Im passionate about today. I opened my ears and eyes and listened to something that challeneged my beliefs, low and behold I learnt things and continue to be proven wrong and learn more. It's important to admit faults and to embrace them.
So every time somebody shuts me out and pushes me away for simply challenging their beliefs, I remember one of my favorite quotes:)

"We cannot withhold facts for fear of offending because the importance of the information outweighs people's right to not be challenged in their beliefs."- Maddy Reid

It wont leave my head!

I just cant shake it! It wont leave my mind, that footage is forever etched into my mind and my heart!

Please dont hold back! Speak up, you can be kind if you like either way just speak up! It's up to us to make this illigal! As long as it's legal many will think it's ok.

Call me hippy, call me pushy, call me judgmental, I dont care! As long as you hear me! Because for some reason we ignore their cries:(

Just needed to get that out. Im so down until I write it down and pray somebody from here will help at least ONE baby from such unnesessary torture.
You may find my posts a little much, but this is my safe place. Where I can try my hardest to process things that I find mind blowing!

"Im holding my baby" The rate of cesarean is to high and the reasons are not good enough!

Birthing your baby is a process every human NEEDS to go through.........
I question the reasons. This surgical procedure should only be allowed in TRUE life or death cases. Sad thing is, we have lost touch with ourseleves and what we are capable of and given our trust to medical teams.....
After studying birth, the history, reasons for pain and all the rest. Im amazed births are not at home and only in rare cases would it be in a hospital.

Mistake.

I have made so many. This time I have hurt someone. I use this blog to say things that I cant say in real life......passion, frustration, anger, happiness, every emotion that gets the better of me.
Im a passionate person and very emotional!

Thing is I need to learn where that fine line between passion and pushy is.
I wanted to give all my info and I wanted to change her mind and make her see what I see.

Thing is with passion needs to come compassion and respect. Who knows that friendship may be forever over. But with its ending came learning. To respect and TRY, no matter how different, to see that persons point.

I have been called many things this past week that made me second guess myself and my ways. Thing is I keep coming to the same conclusion......Im happy with me and the woman Im becoming. I have SO many lessons to learn, tears to cry, people to love and loose, friendships to make and break and MISTAKES to make. But at least I can admit when Im wrong and learn:)

I still believe in my ways and what have learnt and continue to learn but it's to important to have respect for others and their 'choice', I can only hope that others respect mine.
Not just EXPECT respect but earn it.

We are all different but just as my desperation for others to 'see the light' that I see, they have their own light that they want me to see.

Sorry about the big emotional post but as I said you will get all my emotions on this blog, good and bad;)

A little background:)

I think I should post a little about my girls, my life:)

I wont post to much about them as I would like to keep my life and my blog a little seperate;)

But they are the reason for my choices in life, so it only makes sense to post a little about them. Annabelle, 3 and Lucy 1, are my life. They are the reason for my in-depth research and the reason for my constant questioning of the way we are 'told' to live our lives.

How I thought about children/mothering etc before children, couldn't be more diffrent to how I think now! If somebody like me talked about all the things I now talk about, before having kids, I would have yawned, giggled and moved on. It wasn't important to me. But the moment I fell pregnant with Annabelle my mind shifted, I felt what it is to be a woman and human. Protective and already so much inlove. The day she was born and put to my breast, that was it, I realised what life was all about.
Watching her grow and learn because of me, wow!
Then having Lucy, was a whole new feeling. Not ony did I feel an unstoppable urge to learn more about the process of conception, birth, breastfeeding and the crazy choices that are presented once becoming a mother, but I wanted to voice this urge! I wanted to not only learn but, if possible, teach.
Could I be the only one who feels this way? Will I be fighting a loosing battle to voice how feel? Will I just give up, because it would become to hard to question what we are 'told' to do? Luckly, no, Im not alone. Everyday I am inspired to push and learn more. And lately I have been told that I inspired, ha, still cant believe that!
Though many times I feel discouraged and question if I should keep pushing, going against the grain. I have to forget for a moment how many hurdles Im up against and instead, remember the hurdles I've jumped. How many people I have helped, and how many people are with me.
When it comes to our kids DONT EVER, do as you're 'told'. Question everything that doesn't feel right or natural! This is your DUTY as a parent. Your children are relying on you to make informed choices.
My girls will continue to inspire and push me to become more. Im only 23 and am slowly realising what my 'meaning' is. Im not affraid of who I am, but proud. And it's all because of these girls I have been blessed with:)

I couldn't read this and not share. Peaceful parenting: My Beautiful Boy, I Am Sorry

Remember to gather and review all the information about your child’s vaccinations before it is time for the shots. You need to know ahead of time which vaccine, which brand and which ingredients your child will be exposed to at the visit.

Wondering where to begin? I list pro-vaccine sources and then anti-vaccine sources in a tidy post right here:
http://guggiedaly.blogspot.com/2010/11/what-every-parents-needs-to-read-on.html

Want to make a customized schedule to fit YOUR child’s needs? This is an awesome tool! This calculator lets you customize a schedule based on your child’s age, height and weight. It will add up toxin exposure and alert you to allergen exposure! http://www.vaccine-tlc.org/

Do you need to know more about the vaccines themselves? You can read all about the ingredients and the manufacturing process by reading the actual package inserts:
http://www.vaccinesafety.edu/thi-table.htm

Oh yes! And don't forget: you have the right to refuse vaccinations! Vaccines are not required. You can delay, you can choose some but not others, you can stop until you have decided. If people are harassing you, report them, fire them and hire a doctor who respects you and your children.

Man I hope there's not to many of these fools! I know it's a hoax, but there are people that think like this. Ban Breastfeeding

Leaders are visionaries with a poorly developed sense of fear and no concept of the odds against them.  ~Robert Jarvik

Feeling for the mothers who TRUELY have no choice. Yet know the massive differences:(

What if mumma cant feed? And cant get donor milk? The alternative needs to be better.  Every baby deserves the best, weather mummy can give it or not.  No baby should miss out and no mother should feel asthough she isn't able to give the best.

Sadly it's all about money.  Yes believe it, money comes before your baby's health in this world.  Not to you, but to those who make the 'alternative' that you feed your child.  Isn't it strange that the WHO dont recommend formula unless all other sources have been exhausted. Yet if you cant feed then you're not encouraged to source breastmilk elsewhere?!

Here is 100 reasons to seek breastmilk instead of using formula.  These companies dont deserve your money or baby's health.

A beautiful picture. One way to express what a Doula is. No medical team, just mumma and her Doula/s

Dont talk to me!

About childcare places! I DONT CARE!

Im not going to choose our country leader, based on how many more places she can create!  I wont be interested until they work out a way to help mothers/father, AT LEAST ONE, parent stay home.  I want to be supported in my choice to stay home!

We support women to the moon and back with going back to work, but do we even think of the poor mumma working her BUM off at home?

Im NOT saying we should all stay home, blah blah blah, but what I am saying is it needs to be equal support for women staying home and women working!

Also Im not sure but is it a massive new 'fad' to use care?  I dont know if it's good for the child or not, I just choose NOT to use it.
Im so sick of hearing "oh they should do a day at care".
Oh, really? I can teach my children till a certain age (my own abilities restricts me) and I also can give them the 'socialization' so many people like to talk about.

They 'socialize' with me, there, and thats the way it will stay until kinder age.  And then, if they're not ready, I will not push, I will wait until they are READY.

Now this little vent is NOT against mumma's who use care.  This is a vent about me being treated as though Im from another world, because I dont use care.

When will we learn that more then not, we are made of the right stuff to birth our babies! No matter their position.

New research: traditional deliveries for breech babies often safer than C-sections

Ingredients.  An important thing to know, dont you think?  Yet we're not told about what we are putting into our baby's bodies!

Sad

:'(  2011 is empty. The world is full of saddness. It seems its been going since 09:(

So much death. Mothers loosing their children, children loosing their mothers/fathers....

I know this is life and what is meant to happen, but does it need to be so tragic?

Feeling so low about it all.......

I worry that I wont wake to see my beautiful girls again and they'll have to find a way through this life without my guidence and love.....
I hate this thought, I worry so much that I then worry my instincts are telling me it'll happen......

Years ago I didn't care if I was alive or not. Now I love my life so much I just want to hang onto it and Im so scared it'll be taken somehow:(

I lost my dad in 09 and still cant talk about it.  I pretend his on holidays, and put it to the back of my mind, just so I dont have to think about life without him:(

I know this post is a downer, but its my mood at the moment xx

I will slap the next person who says

"I did it, never hurt/killed my child"

Clearly this a normal human reacting to defend themselves or there actions.  But how will we ever learn something if we are so quick to dismiss what is being said, by getting so defensive.....

To feel hurt by somebody disagreeing with what you have done is one thing, but I guess if that person can back up what they're saying with facts, well that must be the straw that breaks the camels back.....
Then make this subject about our children, well, you get the point, it can get ugly very quickly!

We do all parent in different ways but really being informed would more often then not, stop the feeling of regret and denile when somebody else proves, it may not of been the best choice.

Who am I or anybody else to spread these 'facts', to question your parenting???? Im but another parent that also has regrets and can get defensive. But Im quickley learning getting defensive and lashing out WONT get my message accross and definitly wont give me any chance of learning something.  Best part of learning from other parents mistakes with their children.......you wont have to have the same regrets they do with theirs.

Lets be honest, regret can eat away at us.  So lets all open our ears, eyes and minds and we just may learn something.  This goes for me too:)

So, no, your children is walking, talking, breathing, not dead..........but is this ALL you want for your child??  I mean its a good start haha.  But what ever happened to wanting them to THRIVE not just survive.

I guess this post could be interpreted, with most choices we have to make as parents.

This is beautiful, thank you Peaceful Parenting.
