"I did it, never hurt/killed my child"
Clearly this a normal human reacting to defend themselves or there actions. But how will we ever learn something if we are so quick to dismiss what is being said, by getting so defensive.....
To feel hurt by somebody disagreeing with what you have done is one thing, but I guess if that person can back up what they're saying with facts, well that must be the straw that breaks the camels back.....
Then make this subject about our children, well, you get the point, it can get ugly very quickly!
We do all parent in different ways but really being informed would more often then not, stop the feeling of regret and denile when somebody else proves, it may not of been the best choice.
Who am I or anybody else to spread these 'facts', to question your parenting???? Im but another parent that also has regrets and can get defensive. But Im quickley learning getting defensive and lashing out WONT get my message accross and definitly wont give me any chance of learning something. Best part of learning from other parents mistakes with their children.......you wont have to have the same regrets they do with theirs.
Lets be honest, regret can eat away at us. So lets all open our ears, eyes and minds and we just may learn something. This goes for me too:)
So, no, your children is walking, talking, breathing, not dead..........but is this ALL you want for your child?? I mean its a good start haha. But what ever happened to wanting them to THRIVE not just survive.
I guess this post could be interpreted, with most choices we have to make as parents.
About Me
- Nurturing mummy
- Victoria, Australia
- Single mummy, who believes we should all strive to do our best in educating ourselves in choices we make on our childrens behalfs! Worried about how much the Western society are seperating themselves from what it is to be human. Ignoring what it is to be natural and trusting ourselves, and replacing it with our inventions and thinking we can outsmart nature. This is not the future I want for my children, Annabelle 3yrs and Lucy 1yr. Most of all Im passionate to get back to basics with pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding.
